For Naxos, Maxim Fedotov and Galina Petrova presented a strong performance of violin sonatas, it is interesting contrasting subtle and delicate execution van Keulen and Brautigama. In general, Fedotov performing style is sharp and mechanistic, which in combination with dry percussive sound Petrova, creates a powerful stern design.

Fedotov and Petrov performed the first part is almost a full minute slower than Keulen and Brautigam (and Oistrakh and Shostakovich), perhaps deliberately creating a sense of weight, which leads to the monotony of music. In the liner notes to the record, Richard Uaytauer writes that the second part of Shostakovich is the most harsh and discordant Scherzo, Fedotov and Petrov play this part convincingly tough. Passacaglia is similar to the first part, the slow rate (about three minutes slower than that of Keulen / Brautigam or Oistrakh / Shostakovich) emphasizes some of the following. Would still, in general, the duo presented a convincing interpretation of the works. "
